Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. You agree to these terms by registering and posting messages on these forums.

If you would like to cancel the registration, contact us. By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws.

Comments about these policies and decisions made my the admins or moderators should be directed to the contact us . Comments will be considered and further clarification will be offered when possible. Comments made to the public forum regarding these policies may be removed without notice or warning. This is important for mitigating troll activity and other problems.

Public Forums/Privacy.

Anyone with internet access may view these message boards, they are not private, and messages you post are not confidential. Please use discretion when posting, especially when discussing situations at school, students, and/or parents. It is best not to use names or information that might identify you and/or anyone involved. If you provide personal information to other members via the public forum or private message system, it is at your own risk. Personal information, such as your email address, will not be sold or shared. However, in respect unlawful online activities of any visitor, we reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message, submission, or action by you. All actions on the site are identified by an IP address accessible by forum administrators.

Usernames. We recommend choosing a username that doesn't include your full name. You may contact us if you'd like to change your username. You may not have more than one username.

Political Discussions. These types of discussions are prohibited, except for established members in the designated forum for political discussions. New signups that start political discussions will be banned, so please do not waste your time signing up if that is the only reason you are here.

No Self-Promotion/Advertising/Solicitation. Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, MLM, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion). You may also not invite members to contact you via private message or email. These types of posts will be removed from the forum, and offenders will be banned. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Links Policy. We don't mind hearing about members' personal websites or blogs, HOWEVER, please build up your credibility and show us you are here to share with us before you start posting links. New members do not have privileges to post links or use a signature right away. If you try to circumvent the forum's system for blocking links, it will be seen as suspicious and you will be banned from using
the forum. If new members have something very important that is not self-promotion or spam, they are welcome to contact us to request that the link be posted by a moderator or administrator. In most cases, however, you will need to
wait. After you posted for a while, you will have access to posting links. Even after you are able to post links, please note it is not appropriate to include your link or announce it in multiple posts throughout the forum.

Supportive Atmosphere.

The purpose of this forum is to provide encouragement, advice, support, enjoyment, and [insert positive word here]! It is a safe and friendly environment in which to share. The expectation is that visitors to the forums will be both professional and respectful. We won't always agree on everything, but it is expected that any disagreements stick to the issue and not attack anyone personally. Personal attacks may be removed from the forum and repeat offenders may be banned. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it!

Messages/Posts. The owners of the TJ Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread or message for any reason.

Although the administrators and moderators of the TJ Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of the TJ Forums will be held responsible for the content of any message.

FORUM ETIQUETTE: Do not post the same message in multiple forums

It is good forum etiquette to post a message in only one forum. Choose the forum that best fits your topic. If the post is in one forum, all the replies can be made in one place, and teachers trying to help can build on the previous replies.

Most visitors read messages in all, or many, of the forums anyway, so posting in multiple forums also clutters the space and wastes time.

FORUM ETIQUETTE: Thread Hijacking 10

It is polite to keep a thread on topic. If an idea is sparked by an existing thread, please go start a new one rather than hijacking the current topic. The original poster can end up confused or disrespected by the direction a thread takes. It is especially important to new members of the forum who don't know the group yet or understand how everything works.

Discussion can frequently head off on a tangent occasionally, but an effort should be made to get back to the topic rather than continue to a full-fledged hijack.

What exactly is hijacking? Wikipedia has a good description of it: "Thread hijacking is the act of taking a forum discussion thread wildly off topic by discussing a subject entirely unrelated to the subject at hand." Casual off-topic conversation is encouraged in the Teacher Space sub forum.
